Lansdowne Presbyterian "Victory Window" Restoration |
This year Sycamore Studio completed the restoration of two lancets of Lansdowne Presbyterian's "Victory Window", a WWI memorial window installed after the war. 2016 is the hundredth anniverary of the church building
This job entailed removing both the "Fidelity" and "Cooperation" lancets of this historic window for a complete restoration. The "Fidelity" lancet depicts a solder steadfastly guarding his post, an image representing Rev. 2:10. The "Coordination"depicts the story from Exodus where Aaron and Hur help Moses hold his staff aloft for Israel to prevail in battle. Both windows required all six sections of each lancet to be disassembled, cleaned and rebuilt with new lead matching the originals. Broken pieces were repaired with two part epoxy. Shattered border pieces and poor replacements were repainted where required. In the slideshow below you can see some of what's involved in such a large window project. |
